Talk: Hands on Wireless Mesh Deployment, Usage and Problems |

The talk will shortly cover the basics of Wireless Mesh Networks (WMN) and illustrate a deployment strategy in a student dormitory (Kellnerweg). The talk will delve into the advantages and problems of such a deployment. Furthermore, it will outline the Kellnerweg-network's potential usage as a local "testing environment" to help investigate existing problems. The talk is scheduled for approx. 30min and will be followed by an extended open discussion. more...

Professor Shiqiang Yang (Co-Chair of Computer Science Dept, Tsinghua Univ), Professor Shangkai Gao (Medical School and Dept of Electrical Engineering, Tsinghua Univ) and Professor Shushan Cai (Dept of Philosophy, Tsinghua Univ) et al are visiting Goettingen during 23.-24.07.2009.

Axel Neumann is visiting NET group and gives a talk on "Developing, Implementing, and Using Wireless Mesh Networks"
He received his Dipl.-Ing. degree in Electrical Engineering from Technical University Berlin and has been involved in a couple of projects on wireless mesh networks. He is a key designer and implementor of the B.A.T.M.A.N.(BETTER APPROACH TO MOBILE ADHOC NETWORKING) protocol.

The paper "Probe-aided MulTCP: An Aggregate Congestion Control Mechanism" is one of the recent efforts about aggregate congestion control, which could be used for scenarios like edge-to-edge overlay, wireless TCP proxy, QoS provisioning and mass data transport. On 28.09.2007 we welcome the following researchers to our group: Pan Hui, a member of Computer Lab, University of Cambridge who expects to receive his Ph.D. in October 2007; Hamed Haddadi, Ph.D. candidate at UCL and currently visiting researcher at Microsoft Research Cambridge and U Cambridge. They will give talks on their research starting from 14:00 at Sternwarte seminar room.
