MobiArch'06 - The First International Workshop on Mobility in the Evolving Internet Architecture
|
The 1st IEEE/ACM Workshop on Mobility in the Evolving Internet Architecture will take place in San Francisco, CA, USA, December 1, 2006, in conjunction with IEEE GLOBECOM 2006.
|
Workshop OverviewWith the recent development of technologies in wireless access and mobile devices, terminal and network mobility have become an indispensable component of today's Internet vision, and this is likely to continue in the near future, while affecting the way of the whole Internet architecture design. Yet, issues like efficient mobility management and optimizations, locator-identifier split, multi-homing, security and related operational/deployment concerns are still in their early stages of development. Moreover, the Internet architecture, its end-to-end principles and business models will require rethinking due to the massive penetration of mobility into the Internet.
The MobiArch'06 workshop solicits papers, both from researchers and practitioners, dealing with architectures, protocols, and experiences with emerging technologies on mobility support in the Internet, with an emphasis on new mobility protocols, mobility and location management, mobile network performance, multi-homing, security, architectural impacts and deployment considerations.
The workshop is sponsored by IEEE Communications Society and in cooperation with ACM SIGCOMM. The workshop program will include presentations and discussions of accepted technical papers, as well as invited talks and a panel session.
Call for Papers(Download Call for Papers in printable pdf format)
TopicsContributions are solicited in all aspects of architectural issues and system support for mobility in the Internet, including but not limited to:
- Mobility impact on the Internet architecture
- Architectures and protocols for mobility support in the Internet, ranging from approaches in link layer, network, transport to session/application layers and cross-layer design
- Locator/identifier split, multihoming and load sharing issues
- Security and privacy issues in mobility networks and impacts to Internet architecture
- QoS and middlebox issues in mobility networks and impacts to Internet architecture
- Economic and deployment issues of mobility infrastructure designs
Submission GuidelinesSubmitted papers must be original work with no substantially overlap with papers that have been published or that are simultaneously submitted to a journal or conference with proceedings. Submissions could be either a short position paper or a full research paper, and should include in the first page names and contact information of the authors.
- Full papers should be at most 6 pages in IEEE conference style (two-column pages, single space, using 10-point font and 1-inch margins) including all figures and references).
- Position/short papers should be at most 4 pages in IEEE conference style.
The following style files and templates are available for preparing the paper.

Please format your paper according to the instructions given above. Double-check the paper size in your page setup to make sure you are using the A4 size paper layout (210 x 297mm).
Manuscripts must be provided in PDF or Postscript format and submitted online via the EDAS system MobiArch'06 entry. You need to login the system before you can submit your manuscript. If you do not have an account in EDAS yet, please register a new one.
Papers due: submissions must be received by midnight GMT, 24 July 2006 (extended deadline) August 7, 2006 (Confirm your GMT time zone). Authors will receive a receipt confirmation by the EDAS system and can update it at any time before the deadline.
Note:
- All submitted position papers and full papers will be reviewed by experts in the areas.
- All accepted position papers and full papers will be published online and in the MobiArch 2006 proceedings.
- Submission implies the acceptance that at least one author will register to the MobiArch 2006 workshop and present the paper.
- All accepted position papers and full papers will be presented and discussed during workshop sessions.
SelectionThe selection process will involve peer reviews and reviews by program committee members. The papers will be selected for the workshop based upon their originality and relevance to the field of mobility support in the evolving Internet architecture.
