ETSI project - Internet Protocol Testing: The project develops the framework and specifications for conformance and interoperability testing of IPv6 protocols, including general Internet protocol testing methodoloy, and test specifications for IPv6 core, security, mobility and v4/6 transition protocols.

The complexity of implementing next generation Internet protocol (IPv6) family and the relative openness of IETF standards call for a wide-ranging and effective testing of IPv6 products, in order to ensure the deployment, interoperability, security and reliability of the IPv6 infrastructure. In this project we are developing the framework and specifications for conformance and interoperability testing of IPv6 protocols, including general Internet protocol testing methodoloy, and test specifications for IPv6 core, security, mobility and v4/6 transition protocols.

This is part of IPv6 Interoperability Testing - an eEurope project, sponsored by EC/EFTA (eEurope 2005) and ETSI. We have contributed to the following ETSI standards:

• ETSI Technical Specification TS 102 351, DTS/MTS-00092, v1.1.1 (2004-09): TTCN-3 IPv6 Test Specification Toolkit.
• ETSI Technical Specification TS 102 351, RTS/MTS-IPT-001-IPv6-Fwk, v2.1.1 (2005-08): IPv6 Testing Methodolgy and Framework.
• ETSI Technical Specification TS 102 517, DTS/MTS-IPT-007-IPv6-CoreITS, v1.1.1 (2006-04): IPv6 Core Protocols Interoperability Test Suite (ITS).

More information can be found in ETSI Specialist Task Force 256 and Specialist Task Force 276. STF 256 was conducted between November 2003 and September 2004, while STF 276 is active between November 2004 and January 2006.
