PlanetLab - An Open Platform for Developing, Deploying, and Accessing Planetary-Scale ServicesStaff: Xiaoming Fu, Fang-Chun Kuo, Jun Lei, Lei ShiThe Institute for Informatics is a member of the PlanetLab program. The Computer Networks Group collaborates with other research facilities (and researchers) in the PlanetLab consortium. PlanetLab currently consists of 776 computers distributed at 378 research centers around the world. The goal of the PlanetLab project is to grow to 1,000 widely distributed nodes that peer with the majority of the Internet's regional and long-haul backbones. These sites connect large client populations (such as a university) to PlanetLab, providing researchers a facility that supports experimentation into new network services and applications under realistic conditions. At the same time, PlanetLab provides an environment for developing the core technologies necessary for the Internet to better support overlay networks in the future. Links:
